Navy conducts Signing Ceremony of the Construction Contract of Frigates Class Tamandaré '

The four initially planned Frigates are versatile and significant fighter escorts power, able to counteract the multiple threats and intended for maritime traffic safety, may carry out defense missions, rough or remote, off the Brazilian coast. They may be employed to protect the component units of the Main Body of Naval Forces, as well as in remote areas, making Surface Action Groups or as Units Search and attack submarines. They will also be used in patrol Brazilian Jurisdictional Waters (AJB), with an emphasis on enforcement and protection of economic activities, especially the oil and fishing.

After signing the contracts, begins the detailed engineering design, to forecast the start of construction of the first ship in 2021. Delivery is expected to occur between 2025 and 2028.
